Ian O'Neill ("Coach O", Head Coach)
Ian skied for his high school nordic team from 2005-2010 and ran cross country and track competitively through college. After graduating from St. Olaf College in 2014 with a Bachelors in Physics, Ian went to Hamline University to get his Master of Arts in Teaching and starting teaching and coaching at Mounds View in 2016. He is currently enjoying his 8th year teaching physics and physical science in the district. Ian lives in Fridley with his wife and young son, who he hopes can make it to some team events this year. Ian loves spending time with family and friends, skiing, lifting, following pro sports, and coaching the MV Nordic Team!
Julie Garretson (Assistant Coach)
Jules skied for MV Nordic from 2003-2008. Some of her racing experience includes 5 Korteloppets, 7 Birkebeiners, 10 marathons, and 10+ half marathons. In 2012 she graduated from the University of Minnesota, majoring in Chemical Engineering and now works as a Medical Device Engineer at Cardiovascular System, Inc.
Emily Fjorden (Assistant Coach)
Emily skied for Mounds View from 2007-2011. Since then, she entered into competitive racing including ski marathons such as the Birkie, Noque, and Vasaloppet but enjoys racing anything from 10-58k. She has also competed in multiple marathons, many many half marathons, and multiple triathlons. Emily went to University of Minnesota Duluth where she majored in chemical engineering. During her time there, she competed in cross-country, track, and participated in the ski club. She graduated in 2015 and now works as a project/process engineer for Cargill. Emily loves endurance racing, hiking, biking, music, and basically anything outdoors.
